Myofascial Release Massage

Myofascial Release massage combines the full body alignment based focus, balancing the body from head to toe, while applying some massage techniques to create the relaxation and sense of well-being quality to the treatment. Myofascial Release itself works with a sustained pressure, according to a feedback mechanism, pressure is applied more deeply and in changing directions based on the feedback of the fascial release.
A good Massage therapist will be able to locate the important tender points where issues may originate. Sessions are not neccessarily  followed from one straightline of the body. Often the therapist will release one area then depending on how the alignment begins to unwind or respond,.The therapist may move to a completely different part of the body seemingly unrelated, yet critically important to freeing deep restrictions and realigning the body.
Since fascia is the connective tissue covering of the entire body, skeleton, muscles themselves, even organ structures, a fascial injury in one area of the body can impact all areas of the body equally, Here are some basic conditions which can be aided and improved using Myofascial release techniques.
  • Back strain, chronic back pain, low back pain, thoracic back pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Chronic cervical pain
  • Complex pain complaints
  • Softening scar tissue
  • Tinnitus symptoms
  • Sclerederma
  • Dizziness, vertigo
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Fibrositis
  • Headache
  • Myofascial pain dysfunction
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome
  • TMJ dysfunction
  • Trigger points, tender points *
  • Whiplash

Mid-30 day challenge Perspectives

For those fellow practitioners of SanityGirl 30 challenge..here is a mid-point perspective to consider:

Here now at the 15 day mid-point moment, the matter is tricky. At this moment, although some progress has been made. If you kept an eye on the passing 14-15 days already and marked a few particular moments, it's  positive. If you're especially committed to the challenge and really feeling geared up, then you can consciously and with enthusiasm look ahead to the coming 15 days and taste triumph to come.

Personally, I feel greater confidence in myself since the days have taken on new significance due to a specific conscious choice I've made. My own chosen 30 day challenge for this moment was less concrete or tangible, instead, more conceptual. Meaning, I didn't yet know all the activities or tasks necessary to fulfill this challenge. This time, I just dove in with a willingness to test my powers of focus in a particular life area for 30 days. Now, 2 weeks into the process, more defined tasks are developing for me.  It's unfolding to be much more challenging than expected, but even more satisfying.

Closing thoughts...sometimes the plan for your challenge unfolds once you already start. If you experience this, its known as delayed onset sanity, It's normal and can improve with continued practice.

SanityGirl Tactic: Walking sanely, keeping it real

Technology is a friend to be praised, cherished, used..but not abused. Walking on the streets of New York is full of so much opportunity to be more of a sanity-minded girl and protect the sanity you do have. Here's the exercise: You leave your house, walk onto the street being mindful of your neighbors. Saying "hello," when possible, talking or conversing lightly, nicely, sincerely. Walking now to the subway, you may want to put your headphones on to get your street walking groove going, and if that is critical to your arriving at work more peacefully, organized and sane, then do it.

When possible, post-pone the ear candy and tech distractions, stop carrying your cell phone around like weaponry. Instead, sanitygirl suggests: opt for people watching without invading their space. Focus instead on developing your sensitivity to those around you. Feeling some connection to the humanity, even in it's massive proportion. There's a ton of genuinely positive moments to witness and absorb. Children wanting to play with you, say "hello," senior citizens to give your seat to on the train, people you could share your umbrella with in a rain storm, or just cool people you could actually interact with.

Postponement exercise of cell phoning and head phone plugging may even save your life.

Try it for a day, or maybe just an hour.
